Retail Technical Field Engineer (Western Cape)

About the Role

We seek a skilled Technical Field Engineer to optimize maintenance operations and drive technical excellence across our Western Cape retail network. This role requires a hands-on professional to ensure operational efficiency while maintaining strict compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

• Enforce compliance with OHS Act (Asbestos, Construction, Electrical, Environmental regulations)
• Implement TotalEnergies HSEQ procedures across all sites
• Conduct risk assessments and safety audits
• Manage contractor safety compliance and documentation

Maintenance Management

• Coordinate preventive maintenance programs and corrective actions
• Manage pump replacement projects and equipment upgrades
• Monitor contractor performance and service level agreements
• Conduct quarterly quality audits of maintenance work

Operations Reporting

• Present regional performance at monthly business reviews
• Track maintenance completion rates (NFT, preventative maintenance)
• Report site non-conformances within 24 hours
• Analyze equipment lifecycle and replacement planning

Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with Territory Managers on annual site visits
• Maintain regular communication with retail operations teams
• Present maintenance updates at regional sales meetings

Project Execution

• Manage engineering projects from planning to completion
• Control project timelines and budgets
• Coordinate contractors, consultants, and suppliers

Candidate Requirements

• National Diploma/BTech in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering
• 2-3 years’ experience in petroleum/petrochemical industry
• Proven track record in technical maintenance management
• Strong knowledge of oil industry regulations and standards
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
