Job Purpose
The Tug Driver delivers efficient, cost‑effective, and safety‑focused ground support equipment (GSE) services to SAAT, third‑party operators, and foreign airlines. The role ensures safe aircraft movements, proper equipment positioning, and continuous support for all ground operations.
Principal Accountabilities
Aircraft & Equipment Movement
- Move and position SAAT, third‑party, and foreign operator equipment.
- Position aircraft and ground support equipment as required.
Vehicle & Equipment Servicing
- Perform daily checks on vehicles and equipment following driver checklists.
- Complete required paperwork, including occurrence book/log entries.
- Comply with all regulatory authority requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness of the work area.
Technical Support
- Assist GSE drivers/mechanics with servicing and mechanical maintenance of tow bars, tugs, cherry pickers, cranes, forklifts, fire tenders, and man lifts.
Qualifications & Experience
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent.
- Valid EC driver’s licence and valid PDP.
- Minimum 5 years of experience towing and performing push‑backs on large aircraft (e.g., B737, A320).
- Valid push‑back training certificate.
- Valid Partac licence.
Knowledge & Skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
