What Is a Matric Exemption Certificate?
This certificate is mandatory for:
- South African students without a Senior Certificate endorsement
- International students requiring qualification validation for SA universities
Types of Exemption Certificates
- Complete Exemption: Permanent validity, effective from qualification date
- Conditional Exemption:
- Mature Age (23+ years): Valid for study duration + 2 years
- Foreign Conditional: Valid for study duration + 2 years
- Ordinary Conditional: Annual renewal required
- Senate’s Discretionary: Granted after completing Access/Foundation programs (3-year validity)
Application Process
- Get the M30e Form:
- Download from Matriculation Board website
- Collect from university admissions offices
- Request via email: applications@usaf.ac.za
- Prepare Documents:
- Certified copies of ID/Passport/Birth Certificate
- Marriage/divorce certificates (if applicable)
- School-leaving certificates and academic transcripts
- Proof of payment (non-refundable)
- Submit Application:
- Online: Apply through the Matriculation Board portal
