Pre-2008 Matriculants

• Grade 12 Certificate with minimum 25 points (6 highest-scoring subjects)
• English: E (Higher Grade) or D (Standard Grade)
• Biology/Physics/Chemistry/Physiology: E (Higher Grade) or D (Standard Grade)
• Mathematics: E (Higher Grade) or D (Standard Grade)

Post-2008 Matriculants (NSC)

• National Senior Certificate with Diploma Pass
• Minimum 25 points (excluding Life Orientation)
• English Level 4
• Mathematics Level 3 or Maths Literacy Level 5
• Life Sciences/Physical Science Level 4
• Life Orientation Level 4 (mandatory but not scored)
