Purpose of the Role
The Warehouse Operator is responsible for loose case and layer picking. This role ensures accurate selection, packing, and counting of products according to picking instructions. By performing these duties precisely, the operator supports efficient order fulfilment and helps achieve customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out loose case and layer picking accurately.
- Pack selected items securely, using proper packaging and labels.
- Maximise pallet stability during picking, considering in‑transit conditions.
- Count and verify items to guarantee order accuracy.
- Report out‑of‑stock or short‑picked items promptly.
- Use picking equipment to navigate the warehouse efficiently.
- Work with inventory control to keep records accurate and raise any discrepancies.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area to minimise errors.
- Communicate product or packaging concerns (e.g., damage, incorrect labels) to the relevant team.
- Participate in training to improve picking skills and stay updated on warehouse procedures.
- Follow standard operating procedures and work instructions for consistency and compliance.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and wear required PPE to mitigate risks.
- Help create and maintain a safe work environment.
- Contribute to the team’s overall goals and success.
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or equivalent.
- 1‑3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within FMCG retail.
- Valid Electric Pallet Jack licence.

- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
