About the Program
Triton Academy is a TETA and QCTO accredited training provider. We offer the National Certificate in Professional Driving / Occupational Certificate: Truck Driver for unemployed South African youth. The 12‑month learnership combines theory and hands‑on workplace training and is designed to equip participants with the skills needed to succeed in the logistics industry.
Learning Objectives
- Develop safe and efficient driving skills for freight transport.
- Strengthen understanding of cargo handling, vehicle maintenance, and route planning.
- Build competency in professional customer service and warehouse operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Stack, secure and protect goods during transit.
- Operate heavy vehicles responsibly in varied road and weather conditions.
- Deliver and collect freight on time, maintaining service standards.
- Report vehicle defects, incidents, or delays promptly to supervisors.
- Perform ancillary duties such as general housekeeping in the warehouse and yard.
- Provide courteous, professional service when interacting with customers and colleagues.
Requirements
- South African citizen.
- Valid C1 driving licence and Professional Driver’s Permit (PrDP).
- Minimum 2 years of driving experience.
- Grade 12 / TVET N3 / NQF Level 2 qualification with at least 40% in Mathematics or Mathematics Literacy and English.
- Age 23 – 35.
- Medical fitness for driving.
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Numerical competence.
- Availability to work on weekends and during shifts.
- Clear criminal record.
- Residency in Germiston, Alberton, Boksburg, Johannesburg, Tembisa, Alexandra, Katlehong or nearby areas.
Advantageous: Own reliable transport, computer literacy, previous work experience.
