About the Job
Shoprite is looking for three reliable and enthusiastic Soup Truck Drivers to join our dynamic team. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys driving, has a passion for food, and loves interacting with people. As a Soup Truck Driver, you will be the face of our service, ensuring that our delicious, high-quality soups are delivered safely and on time to various locations, bringing warmth and satisfaction to our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Driving and Delivery: Operate the soup truck in a safe and efficient manner, following designated routes and schedules to ensure all deliveries are made punctually. Adhere strictly to all food safety and transportation regulations during transit.
- Customer Service: Provide friendly and professional service at each delivery point. Engage with customers, answer questions about our soup varieties, and handle any concerns promptly to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Truck Maintenance: Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the truck is in optimal working condition. Carry out basic maintenance tasks and report any mechanical issues to management immediately.
- Inventory Management: Assist with loading and unloading food supplies and inventory before and after delivery routes. Help maintain accurate records of inventory and report any discrepancies.
- Safety Compliance: Strictly follow all traffic laws and regulations. Maintain compliance with health and safety guidelines to preserve the quality and safety of food products throughout the delivery process.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education & Experience: A minimum of a Grade 10 certificate or equivalent. Previous experience in a driving role, especially in food delivery, is highly advantageous.
- Licenses & Certifications: A valid Code 10 driver’s license with a clean driving record. A Professional Driving Permit (PDP) will be a significant advantage.
- Skills: Excellent driving skills and good knowledge of local road networks. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities. Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team. Basic math skills are required for handling cash and invoices if necessary.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift heavy items (up to a specified weight) and remain on your feet for extended periods. The role involves working in various weather conditions.
Note: Successful candidates must be flexible and willing to work on weekends as required. Positions are available in Alexandra, Protea Glen, and Mpumalanga.
