Purpose of the Job

The Operator I is a first‑line technical support role that monitors the IT infrastructure and works closely with stakeholders to deliver the right solutions. The position reports to the Team Leader and supports all required IT operations activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Frequent monitoring of operating systems.
• Assist with monitoring and execution of system backups.
• Monitor store data interchange.
• Help with data recovery and disaster recovery.
• Support generator and UPS testing.
• Ensure backup media are moved off‑site when required.
• Maintain network and system monitoring systems for stakeholders.
• Continuously monitor data centre infrastructure.
• Respond to exceptions within SLA timeframes.
• Participate in system and server monitoring.
• Develop knowledge across a wide range of IT technologies.
• Assist the Cyber Security team with first‑line support.
• Perform additional duties when requested.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 diploma (mandatory).
• Any IT related certification (preferred).
• Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, Database or a related field (beneficial).

Experience

Experience with monitoring and operational tools such as SAP and Linux.

Skills

• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as SAP and Linux (beneficial).
• Proficiency in MS Office 365 with basic Excel skills (mandatory).
• Willingness to work 24/7 on‑site operations, including night shift.
