Position Summary

Clicks Group is looking for a dedicated and customer-focused Shop Assistant/Cashier to join the team at our Mall of Africa store. This is an entry-level position perfect for someone who is passionate about retail and delivering excellent service. The successful candidate will be at the heart of our store operations, ensuring a positive and efficient shopping experience for every customer.

Job Description & Key Responsibilities

As a Shop Assistant and Cashier, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that keep our store running smoothly and our customers happy. Your main duties will include:

  • Operating the point of sale (POS) system efficiently and accurately to process customer transactions.
  • Handling cash and other forms of payment with utmost care and security at all times.
  • Scanning merchandise correctly and ensuring pricing accuracy.
  • Promoting and enrolling new members for the Clicks clubcard to help achieve participation targets.
  • Informing customers about current promotions, specials, and events to enhance their shopping experience and drive sales.
  • Providing friendly, professional, and superior customer service by being a visible and helpful brand ambassador on the shop floor.
  • Assisting with merchandising tasks, including maintaining visual standards, restocking shelves, and ensuring general housekeeping to keep the store tidy and presentable.
  • Staying updated on all product ranges, promotions, and in-store events to provide accurate information to customers.
  • Supporting the overall vision of Clicks Group to be the first choice in health and beauty retail.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

Knowledge:

  • Basic mathematical calculations.
  • An understanding of retail or FMCG environments, including merchandising and promotional principles.
  • Basic knowledge of stock management procedures.

Experience & Education Requirements

Experience:

  • Minimum: While no prior experience is mandatory, experience in a customer-facing role within a retail or FMCG store environment is highly desirable.

Education:

  • Essential: Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
  • Desirable: A minimum of 50% in both Mathematics and English at the Grade 12 level.
