ICT Infrastructure Manager
A vacancy exists for an ICT Infrastructure Manager in Pretoria CBD. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to lead and manage the ICT infrastructure systems, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and standards.
About the Position
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the ICT infrastructure, including data centers, voice and server systems, networks, backups, and cloud services. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and optimizing ICT infrastructure systems, including data centres, voice, server, and storage networks.
- Defining and managing the organisation’s cloud posture, including strategy development and cost optimization.
- Ensuring efficient server management processes, including security tasks, documentation, and inventory alignment with security requirements.
- Managing infrastructure-related change control procedures and ensuring project deliverables are completed within budget and timelines.
- Providing leadership to the project team and managing performance deviations.
- Coordinating ICT-related training for the infrastructure team.
- Managing infrastructure resources for significant ICT projects.
- Collaborating with the Enterprise Architecture team to deliver efficient solutions.
- Providing mentorship and technical guidance to team members.
- Developing and recommending standards, guidelines, and best practices.
- Managing key technology vendors and contracts.
- Ensuring compliance with organisational standards, policies, and regulations.
- Contributing to the implementation of the ICT BU strategic plan.
- Evaluating the effectiveness of work processes and systems.
- Ensuring task execution and results achievement.
- Managing relationships and communicating clearly and openly.
Key Performance Areas
Technology Infrastructure Management:
- Procurement, deployment, and management of server environments.
- End-user technologies, including desktop, email/chat, Intranet, mobile devices, and video services.
- Infrastructure delivery and managing demand for business-aligned solutions.
- Data centre and Enterprise Technologies, including VM servers, midrange, storage, and data centres.
- Network Technologies, including data, voice, internet, and wireless capabilities.
- Specialised connectivity capabilities and application platform services.
- Technology operations, including event/incident management and service performance reporting.
- Infrastructure Engineering, including architecture standards and technology roadmaps.
Systems Management:
- Meeting operational targets for availability, capacity, security, and performance.
- Designing and implementing major IT infrastructure changes and upgrades.
- Developing effective infrastructure design and operational processes.
- Collaborating with ICT Senior Management and business stakeholders on IT strategy.
- Managing key ICT infrastructure suppliers.
- Developing KPIs and ensuring compliance with SLAs.
- Ensuring ICT infrastructure services meet business requirements and global standards.
- Managing Disaster Recovery solutions.
People Management:
- Assessing staff performance and overseeing training and recruitment.
- Managing and evolving the team with changing technologies.
- Developing and motivating team members to deliver exceptional service.
- Managing assigned projects and ensuring results achievement.
Qualifications and Experience
- NQF7 IT-related qualification required.
- Foundation ITIL or other ITIL certification advantageous.
- Certification in infrastructure environment or IT systems/applications desired.
- 8 to 10 years of relevant experience at a management level.
- Proficiency in Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, and Office 365.
- Knowledge of Microsoft products such as SCCM, SQL, SCOM, and Windows operating systems.
- Familiarity with hardware devices, including servers, switches, and storage systems.
- Experience with virtual machine environments and database management (SQL and Oracle).
- Sound knowledge of non-financial indicators and application support.
- Experience in procurement of IT services.
