About the role

The Lamproom Operator assists in delivering quality services and ensuring the safe operation of lamproom equipment and tools. The role supports health, safety and productivity across the mining sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow the prescribed DMR guidelines and the mine code of practice.
  • Provide legal and competent services.
  • Compile and submit required reports and documentation.
  • Resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain and monitor lamproom equipment.
  • Keep knowledge up‑to‑date on internal and external procedures, schedules, and directives.
  • Attend training sessions – basic, advanced, or specialised – to maintain proficiency.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in your area of responsibility.
  • Work closely with the Lampsman to ensure quality, safety and contractual obligations.
  • Assist visitors, clients and staff with general enquiries.
  • Keep the Lampsman updated about unresolved or potential issues that affect customers or the company.
  • Participate in quality programmes across the company.
  • Adhere to the company’s Health & Safety policies, practices and procedures.
  • Use personal protective equipment and conduct risk assessments before starting daily tasks.
  • Contribute to workplace meetings, inspections and other consultative activities.
  • Act as a professional representative in community interactions.
  • Monitor and maintain timesheets accurately.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 certificate or equivalent with Mathematics and Physical Science at standard Grade (D) or higher.
  • At least one year of experience as a lamproom operator or in a technical role related to the lamproom environment.
  • Basic understanding of lamproom equipment and tools.
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Office suite).
