About the Job

We at SAPPI, a global leader in sustainable woodfibre products, are looking for a Port Helper CRF 2 to help keep our plant running safely and efficiently. This role focuses on maintaining the Primary Ports and Smelt Spouts so the Recovery Boiler fires steadily.

Key Responsibilities

• Check the condition of Primary Ports continuously and clean them every hour.
• Keep smelt flow from the spouts constant by clearing any blockages during the shift.
• Clean the throat of the spouts to the Dissolving Tank every 2 hours.
• Ensure agitators in the dissolving tank run at all times.
• Take smelt samples to the laboratory for analysis.
• Open fish tails to spouts and shatter nozzles as required.
• Adhere to all work and operating procedures.
• Perform housekeeping with the team, focusing on your area of responsibility.
• Inspect all equipment regularly for potential problems.
• Carry out other duties as directed by the Process Controller or Shift Superintendent.
• Communicate any potential or actual production delays to the process controller and shift supervisor.

What We’re Looking For

• Matric with Mathematics and Science, or N3 Pulp and Paper.
• 0 to 1 year of relevant experience in a production environment (no experience required).
