Job Description

Dis‑Chem Pharmacies’ Greenhill store is looking for a Retail Store Assistant to support day‑to‑day store operations. The successful candidate will ensure all tasks are carried out according to company policy, maintain high customer service standards, and help manage the store’s financial and inventory processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle customer compliments and complaints and report them to management.
• Build professional relationships with shoppers and respond promptly to requests.
• Resolve stock queries and guide customers to the right department.
• Achieve the required customer service turnover per hour benchmark.
• Manage cash counts, short & over at the point of sale, including float handling.
• Process refund and return transactions correctly.
• Return and back‑shopping goods accurately.
• Verify deliveries and invoices for total accuracy.
• Assist the Receiving Manager with Distribution Centre claims and recording.
• Control high‑risk stock and prepare daily run reconciliation.
• Order and receive branch change requirements to keep cashiers stocked with adequate change.
• Communicate effectively with relevant parties and maintain document control (float, petty cash, cash on hand).

Requirements

Essential

• Grade 12 or equivalent (Matric).
• Basic computer skills – Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and SAP.
• Prior retail experience.

Special Conditions

• South African citizen.
• Clean MIE, criminal record and credit status.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable personal transport.
