Job Description

Our Talent Team is seeking a diligent and reliable Cashier to join the Baking Division at our Mokopane Depot. This position reports directly to the Depot Controller.

The primary purpose of this role is to manage all cash-related transactions at the depot. This includes receiving and recounting cash from drivers, accurately processing payments against the correct driver receipts, preparing daily bank deposits, and ensuring all cash handling procedures are followed with precision to maintain daily balance.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and meticulously recount cash handed in by drivers.
• Process payments accurately, ensuring they are matched to the correct driver and receipt.
• Prepare the daily bank deposit, ensuring it balances perfectly at the end of each day.
• Record all cash and cheque transactions in the daily cash-up summary.
• Prepare deposits for the bank in a timely manner.
• Maintain a register for recording seal numbers.
• Ensure the cash office door is locked at all times for security.
• Securely lock all cash in the safe overnight.
• Ensure previous day’s takings are removed from the premises promptly and securely.
• Work diligently to keep cash shortages to an absolute minimum.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate, with Mathematics and Accounting as subjects.
• 2 – 3 years of proven experience in a cashier role, bank teller position, or general office administration.
• Computer literacy is essential, with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and the Syspro system.
• High level of integrity and trustworthiness.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical skills.
