Job Description

PABT is a global leader in designing, manufacturing, and assembling heavy‑duty slurry pumps. We foster an entrepreneurial culture and a “do whatever it takes” attitude.

As a Graduate Engineer in the Technical Sales department, you will support sales representatives with all technical aspects of our products. Your main base will be our head office in Centurion, with regular client visits that typically last 3‑4 days, provided by company transport.

You will handle technical responsibilities in a fast‑growing company, providing pump‑system solutions in the form of proposals based on varied user requirements.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in selecting and specifying pumps that best meet customer needs.
  • Compile technical reports and proposals.
  • Guide customers on a technical basis to the appropriate product.
  • Provide first‑line technical support and consulting for pump applications.
  • Offer on‑site assistance with product installation.
  • Perform system analysis and fault finding on‑site, compiling reports with solutions and root‑cause analysis.
  • Support sales representatives in presenting proposed solutions to clients.
  • Consistently meet or exceed customer support quality assurance standards.

Requirements for the Role

  • Strong mechanical and/or process engineering ability.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Organised with a proven ability to maintain files and documents.
  • Proficiency with computers and software, especially MS Word and Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
  • Energetic, driven, self‑starter who can own all technical aspects within their area.

Education and Experience

  • B.Eng or BSc.Eng in Mechanical or Process Engineering.
  • 0–2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with pump-related technology is advantageous.

Other Requirements

  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Willingness to live away from the office for 3–4 days a week.
