Purpose of the Role
The People Intern will support the People Analytics & Insights team in maintaining accurate HR data, preparing reporting, and learning how people insights support business decisions. You will gain hands‑on experience with HR systems (HRIS), data accuracy, and basic reporting and analytics.
Key Responsibilities
Data Accuracy & Administration
- Update, check, and clean employee information across HR systems
- Assist the People Analytics Specialist with regular data reviews and reporting tasks
- Follow data privacy and accuracy standards
Reporting & Insights Support
- Compile People data reports and dashboards (headcount, new hires, turnover)
- Use Excel and Power BI to create basic visual reports
- Identify simple trends or areas where data can help tell a story
HR Systems and UAT Support
- Learn how the company’s HR systems work and how data flows between them
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) when new HR system changes are made, including testing features and logging issues
- Confirm data and reports are working correctly with the team
Team and Process Support
- Organise people data templates, update spreadsheets, and archive documentation
- Assist with ad‑hoc reporting needs and data‑related queries
- Support people initiatives and projects within the People function
Job Requirements
Education
- Currently completing a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Business Analytics, Statistics or a related field
- Courses in data analytics, business intelligence or HR systems are an advantage
Experience & Skills
- Computer literacy – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Comfortable working with numbers and attention to detail
- Interest in HR processes, technology and analytics
- Familiarity with spreadsheets, data entry or basic reporting
- Good time‑management, ability to multi‑task and work under pressure
- Team player
- South African citizen, fully eligible to live and work in South Africa
