Job Overview

As a Payroll Administrator, you will manage the full cycle of payroll and time‑and‑attendance data. Your role ensures adherence to company policies, legislative requirements, and payroll deadlines while delivering accurate, timely pay for all employees. You will also resolve escalated payroll issues and support audit processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain payroll and time‑attendance records in compliance with company policies and legislation.
  • Capture and reconcile all time and attendance entries on a weekly basis.
  • Adhere to payroll calendars and deadlines, ensuring pay is accurate and timely.
  • Create and verify net pay comparisons and pay‑slip checks.
  • Prepare spreadsheets and upload files for payroll processing at FSS, including HLA, encashments, sundry deductions, telephone deductions, business kilo claims, NUM & Solidarity deductions, and water & electricity deductions.
  • Explain payroll policies to staff and answer related questions.
  • Process boarding school assistance through FSS payrolls.
  • Complete the financial section of Rand Mutual Insurance and Sanlam forms.
  • Calculate taxable earnings for terminations.
  • Compile leave audits.
  • Print and distribute payslips on a monthly basis or on request.
  • Prepare correction run information and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with payroll queries and support internal and external audit processes.

Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience with SAP HR payroll system.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Knowledge of payroll legislation such as POPI and BCEA.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Good customer service orientation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 12.
  • Payroll or HR qualification is advantageous.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years in a payroll administrative role.
  • Experience with a payroll system.
