Optix Africa is seeking two diligent and detail-oriented Stock Controllers to join our Picking department in Benoni. The primary purpose of this role is to provide crucial support by ensuring customer orders and stock are picked with a high degree of accuracy and within a reasonable time frame. The successful candidate will be responsible for allocating stock, performing quality checks, and ensuring all items leave the facility with the correct accompanying paperwork. This is a hands-on role that is vital to the smooth operation of our logistics and supply chain.
Minimum Requirements
- A minimum of a Grade 12 or National Certificate.
- Relevant experience working in a stock control or picking environment is essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is non-negotiable.
- Prior experience with Salesforce and NetSuite software systems will be a distinct advantage.
- The ideal candidate must possess a strong sense of urgency and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm and productive under pressure and to multitask effectively.
- Must be a proactive team player who takes full ownership of their work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with good telephone etiquette.
- Strong listening skills and the ability to carry out instructions promptly from managers, executives, and the team leader.
- Willingness to stand in for colleagues and provide assistance wherever required to meet critical deadlines.
- Must be highly organized, deadline-driven, and willing to go the extra mile.
- A fast learner with a growth mindset, adaptable to an ever-changing, dynamic environment.
- This role involves heavy lifting, driving stock between warehouses, and assisting with off-loading trucks upon shipment arrival.
- Must be flexible and available to work extra hours and occasional weekends when required.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Accurately pick and complete customer orders, both physically and within the company’s system.
- Manage and process swop-out stock efficiently.
- Count all incoming stock, sign off on relevant paperwork, and assist with unpacking deliveries.
- Provide direct stock support to technicians, schedulers, and logistics agents.
- Maintain the swop-out shelf, ensure the stores area is clean, and top up stock levels; proactively advise management of low stock levels for reordering.
- Pick consumable stock as required for various jobs and departments.
- Arrange deliveries, prepare accurate delivery notes, and ensure returned notes are scanned and shared with the Accounts department.
- Prepare and pack stock for cross-border deliveries, including capturing and sending accurate dimensions.
- Assist with any additional tasks and duties that may arise to support team and business objectives.
