About the Role

Nedbank is seeking a dedicated and client-focused Service Consultant to join our team in Vereeniging. This role is central to our mission of delivering exceptional service by educating clients on our digital and self-service solutions, processing cash transactions, and ensuring the smooth operation of our banking devices. The ideal candidate will be passionate about building client relationships and driving the adoption of convenient, secure banking technologies.

Job Purpose

To educate clients on the convenience, security, and functionality of digital and self-service solutions; process cash transactions and handle cash fulfillment (balancing and replenishment); and perform first-line device maintenance to meet business goals and exceed client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Client Engagement

  • Meet, greet, and direct clients, establishing and clarifying their needs.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships by keeping them informed and delivering solutions with care.
  • Educate clients and potential clients on how to subscribe to and service their accounts using self-service and digital channels.
  • Assist clients with downloading online applications, resolving login issues, and purchasing value-added services like pre-paid data and airtime.
  • Help clients obtain statements, cards, and other documents from self-service zones.
  • Facilitate conversations to help clients complete their service needs online.
  • Identify quality sales leads and enable cross-selling by referring clients to the relevant departments.
  • Address any concerns related to queue flow or digital devices.
  • Own client requests end-to-end and route for alternative intervention when necessary.

Business Operations

  • Accept and service cash transactions over the counter.
  • Process client deposits, withdrawals, change requests, and transfers following relevant procedures.
  • Process client forex requests (e.g., FBN, bills, and transfers).
  • Balance and secure branch stock holdings, such as cards.
  • Control the queuing process and prioritize clients with special needs.
  • Load cash, balance, and provide first-line maintenance and replenishment for all store devices, including ATMs.
  • Ensure device availability and perform first-line support for down devices.
  • Execute cash management strategies, including treasury and holdings, to promote cash efficiency and recycling.
  • Prepare transactional documents for inter-bank transfers and hand them over to couriers.

Risk and Compliance

  • Mitigate risk by adhering to counter and drop safe limits as per policy.
  • Prevent fraud and losses by strictly following mandates, client authentication procedures, and transaction policies.
  • Action daily control checklists for teller, enquiries, and foreign functions.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • NQF Level 5 Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualification

  • Higher Certificate in Banking Services (NQF5) or similar.

Minimum Experience Level

  • 1-2 years of experience in Retail/Banking Client Service.
  • Experience handling cash, using technology, and providing first-line problem resolution.
  • Foreign exchange experience is advantageous where applicable.
