Job Purpose

Nedbank is looking for energetic and ambitious graduates to join our Business Manager Graduate: Agribusiness/Commercial Banking Programme. The programme is designed to develop future leaders in banking by offering extensive training, exposure to various business functions, and practical experience managing a commercial client portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acquire new commercial clients with annual turnovers between R30m and R1bn through strategic prospecting and networking.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients in specialised sectors such as Agriculture, Franchise, FinTech, and Manufacturing, consistently improving professional and personal skills.
  • Monitor economic trends (e.g., green energy, sustainable agriculture) and apply this knowledge to client engagements and opportunity identification.
  • Conduct ecosystem analysis to uncover acquisition possibilities and unlock value within the supply chain.
  • Drive revenue growth by cross‑selling and up‑selling, leveraging industry knowledge and internal stakeholder relationships.
  • Perform in‑depth financial needs analyses to pinpoint cross‑sell and up‑sell opportunities aligned with business goals.
  • Carry out regular portfolio reviews with clients to discover and realise value‑added opportunities that support client retention.
  • Engage proactively with clients, offering tailored financial solutions.
  • Develop and implement a client engagement plan to ensure frequent interactions with all assigned clients.
  • Build trust with key decision‑makers through regular, high‑quality interactions.
  • Serve as the main bank interface for clients, maintaining comprehensive product knowledge and coordinating with relevant stakeholders.
  • Communicate client feedback to internal teams, advocating for action and improvement.
  • Recommend customised solutions that meet clients’ unique needs, consulting with stakeholders as needed.
  • Manage all business risks and ensure regulatory compliance by following internal policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the credit manager to manage portfolio credit risk and minimise potential impairment.
  • Prepare and present complex credit applications, integrating industry expertise and core banking principles.
  • Support digitisation of clients in line with the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
  • Promote client awareness of sustainable development solutions that align with Nedbank’s purpose.

Qualifications

  • Completed an NQF Level 8 with an honours degree in BCom (Agriculture Economics) or BSc (Agriculture). Minimum average score of 60%.
  • Preference given to candidates from under‑represented groups.
