Introduction

Our client is a specialist dental practice located in Sandton. They are looking for a Dental Receptionist to join their team. The role is full‑time, 07:30 – 16:30, Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Manage appointments: schedule, confirm, and reschedule bookings.
  • Answer phone calls, respond politely, and direct callers to the appropriate team member.
  • Maintain confidential patient records using dental practice software.
  • Process payments, issue receipts, and explain costs clearly.
  • Assist patients with forms and documentation.
  • Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow.
  • Keep the reception area tidy, welcoming, and stocked with reading materials.
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion in line with data protection laws.
  • Provide support to patients who are medically or emotionally vulnerable.
  • Contribute to a positive team culture through proactive communication.
  • Perform basic accounting tasks, including bookkeeping and preparing monthly creditor/debtor lists.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a dental or healthcare reception role is preferred.
  • Familiarity with dental terminology and procedures.
  • Confidence using dental practice management systems (e.g., SOE, Dentally or similar).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic accounting competence.
