Job Summary

The City of Johannesburg is hiring a Machine Operator to keep sports fields, stadia and recreation facilities clean and in top condition. The role involves operating and maintaining grass‑cutting and line‑marking machines.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate grass‑cutting equipment according to the operator’s manual.
• Maintain and perform routine repairs on machines.
• Follow the Occupational Health and Safety Act to keep everyone safe.
• Carry out grass cutting and line‑marking tasks as scheduled.
• Lift and move equipment that may be heavy or large.

Essential Requirements

• Grade 10 or NQF Level 2 qualification.
• Between 6 and 12 months experience as a machine operator.
• Knowledge of how to operate and care for grass‑cutting and line‑marking machines.

Core Competencies

• Attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Fit, healthy and able to lift and move equipment.
• Ability to follow maintenance and scheduling plans.

Additional Skills and Knowledge

• Read and understand instructions clearly.
• Understand safety hazards and precautions.

Remuneration

Basic salary: R11 091,73 per month (excluding benefits).
