Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Admin Clerk / Receptionist to join our team in the East Rand – Bedford location. In this role you will manage the flow of samples and documents, provide excellent customer service at the front desk, and support the laboratory’s daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, log, and distribute samples according to SOPs.
  • Process sample registrations and respond to queries efficiently.
  • Coordinate specimen dispatch and monitor progress to meet turnaround times.
  • Conduct hospital rounds to distribute reports and collect pending samples.
  • Handle administrative queries and patient complaints, escalating when necessary.
  • Track courier delivery of specimens and ensure timely receipt at the laboratory.
  • Identify and report bottlenecks in pre‑analytical processes and suggest improvements.
  • Maintain a clean and organized reception area and prepare equipment as needed.
  • Monitor stock levels, order supplies, and deliver materials to doctors’ rooms.
  • Represent the organization with professionalism and customer‑care focus.
  • Operate the reception area, orient clients, and provide relevant information.
  • Accept cash from patients and bank funds following SOPs.
  • Record incidents, complaints, and solutions in the laboratory management system.
  • Prepare and scan patient forms into the Oculus scanning system, addressing any incompletes.
  • Adhere to Lancet’s uniform and dress code policies.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.
  • BSc degree is advantageous.
  • 0–1 year relevant working experience preferred.
