About the Programme

The Department of Employment & Labour is inviting qualified South African graduates to join a 24‑month internship programme at the Pretoria Head Office. The internship offers valuable workplace experience, a competitive stipend, and a chance to work in a national institution.

Who Can Apply?

  • South African citizens who are unemployed and seeking work experience.
  • Individuals who have not previously participated in any internship programme.
  • Applicants holding a matric certificate and a relevant post‑school qualification.
  • Preference will be given to qualifying South African youth, persons with disabilities, and individuals from previously disadvantaged groups.
  • Applicants must meet the qualification level required for the specific role (see below).

Available Roles and Requirements

Remote ICT Technicians

  • Information Technology (A+ or N+ certification an advantage).
  • Minimum of a 3‑year tertiary qualification: National Diploma (NQF 6) or Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) in ICT/Information Technology.

Other Roles (for the same deadline)

  • Service Desk Agents – ICT / A+ Certificate.
  • Contract & Licence Controller – Business Management, Administration, Logistics, Financial Management, LLB, Commercial Law, Information Technology.
  • Asset Management Officer – Supply Chain Management, Asset Management, Public Management, Business Management, Accounting, Taxation, Internal Auditing.
  • Administration Clerk – Management, Public Management, Business Administration, Management Assistant, Office Management, Administrative Management, Public Governance.
  • Labour Market Information & Statistics – Economics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Social Sciences.
  • Library & Information Science – Library and Information Science or relevant field.
  • Digital Content Creator – Graphic Design, Multimedia, Visual Communication or equivalent.
  • Researcher – Public Administration, Social Sciences, Economics.

Note: For roles that require a National Higher Certificate/College Diploma (NQF 5) recognized by SAQA, only the indicated disciplines are acceptable.
