Internship: Governance, Risk Management & Compliance
Provider: City of Johannesburg – Community Development Department
Location: Temporary: JD House, 7th Floor, 27 Stiemens Street, Braamfontein
Type: Internship (up to 18 months)
Salary: R10 109,86 per month (basic salary, no benefits)
Notes: Only residents of Johannesburg will be considered.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (NQF 4) plus a Diploma or Degree (NQF 6/7) in Public Management, Business Administration or a related field focused on Risk Management and/or Compliance (minimum 360 credits).
- City of Johannesburg resident.
Primary Function
This internship provides administrative and analytical support to the Business Management Support Directorate. You will gain exposure to municipal governance processes, improve analytical and coordination skills, and help maintain transparent and ethical service delivery in line with Batho Pele Principles.
Key Learning Areas
- Coordinate governance, risk and compliance documentation.

Primary Function
Provide administrative and creative support to the Business Management Support Directorate, aiding in communication, branding, and public liaison activities that enhance departmental visibility and stakeholder engagement. The internship exposes you to municipal communication processes and hands‑on experience in designing and publishing internal media such as the departmental newsletter.

- Draft and prepare internal and external communication materials.
- Support layout, design, and content of the quarterly newsletter.
- Assist public liaison, event communication, and programme documentation.
- Contribute to social‑media content for departmental and directorate channels.
- Maintain administrative, coordination, and record‑keeping support for communication and stakeholder engagement.

- Basic understanding of public‑sector communication and branding guidelines.
- Awareness of Batho Pele Principles and municipal service‑delivery values.
- Familiarity with internal communication channels, social‑media platforms and digital content management.
