About the Position

The City of Johannesburg is hiring General Workers to support its clean‑up and public maintenance initiatives across multiple regions. This role will be performed by City employees as well as external applicants.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 8 or equivalent qualification.
• No previous experience required.

Core Responsibilities

As a General Worker, you will:

• Collect litter and sweep streets.
• Remove stickers, pamphlets and any illegal debris from street furniture, poles and road signs.
• Assist in cleaning informal settlements and support city-wide clean‑up campaigns.
• Load waste into collection trucks.
• Identify and clean illegal dumping hotspots.
• Clear spillages caused by bag breakage.
