Job Purpose

The General Worker is responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the building’s exterior. The role includes routine maintenance tasks, minor preventive repairs, and coordination with service personnel. The successful candidate will report major repair and maintenance needs to management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cleaning and Maintenance
   • Clean roof gutters and clear any blockages.
   • Check roof waterproofing and clean air‑conditioning filters.
   • Clean and sweep common areas, including pavement, basements, and all floors (vacuum, sweep, mop).
   • Address general maintenance problems and perform minor repairs, including painting tasks.
2. Communication and Coordination
   • Work closely with company staff, management, and external service providers.
   • Assist service personnel as required.
   • Keep management informed of activities, significant problems, and maintenance concerns.
   • Attend and participate in relevant meetings.
   • Complete all required paperwork and checklists for cleaning and maintenance tasks.
3. Customer Relations
   • Maintain courteous, professional relations with clients, visitors, vendors, and the public.
4. Other Duties
   • Carry out miscellaneous cleaning tasks and special requests as assigned.
   • Assist in maintaining facility security.

Performance Metrics

• Building facilities and equipment are clean, neat, and well maintained.
• Cleaning and maintenance tasks are completed safely and on schedule according to established standards.
• Maintenance issues are identified, resolved, or reported promptly.
• Work is coordinated with company operations and assistance is provided to other personnel when needed.
• Management is kept informed of all activities and significant problems.
• Courteous relations exist with company visitors, vendors, and clients.
• Garbage is removed regularly according to the schedule.
• Globe bulbs are changed according to the agreed schedule.

Qualifications

• Education: No formal education required. A matric certificate is advantageous.
• Knowledge: Basic cleaning techniques, maintenance procedures, and safety/OSHA requirements.
• Experience: Previous cleaning/janitorial experience is helpful.
• Skills:
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently.
  • Willingness to work weekends and evenings.
  • Proficiency with basic cleaning tools (vacuum, mop, broom, etc.).
