Job Description
FlySafair is seeking a diligent and organized Dispatch Assistant to join our logistics and warehouse team. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for an individual looking to build a career in a dynamic aviation environment. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and accurate handling of unserviceable aircraft spares, from inspection to shipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect all unserviceable aircraft spares to ensure they are properly flushed and prepared for shipment before being inducted into the warehouse.
- Verify that all accompanying paperwork for unserviceable spares is complete and accurate prior to induction.
- Safely and correctly pack spares onto shelves to prevent any further damage to parts and components.
- Work closely with the planning department to ensure all required movements are accurately recorded and processed in the SAM system.
- Conduct daily stock checks on all items marked as unserviceable within the SAM system.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to promptly resolve any issues or discrepancies that arise.
- Maintain and update stock records accurately in the SAM system.
- Ensure all items are packed securely and correctly to prevent any damage during the shipping process.
- Coordinate with external shipping companies to arrange the timely pickup and delivery of cargo.
- Communicate effectively with various departments within the company to guarantee the timely delivery of all shipments.
- Provide daily, clear feedback to both internal and external customers and stakeholders.
- Maintain the dispatch area in a state of readiness at all times to comply with audit requirements.
- Strictly adhere to all company procedures, safety standards, and operational guidelines.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Grade 12 certificate or equivalent National Qualification.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in a warehousing or similar logistics environment.
- Willingness to work 24-hour shifts as part of a rotating schedule.
- Willingness to work overtime as and when operational requirements demand.
Advantageous Skills:
- Previous experience or certification in dangerous goods handling.
- Experience in packing and handling aircraft spares.
- Knowledge of and experience using an ERP system, particularly SAM.
