Fire & Wet Services Engineer

About the Position
A dynamic and highly respected building services consultancy, specializing in innovative engineering solutions, is seeking a Fire & Wet Services Engineer to join their Johannesburg-based team. The firm manages a diverse portfolio of commercial, residential, and industrial projects, with a current mix of approximately 60% fire services and 40% wet services work. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated engineer with strong fire and/or wet services design skills to take ownership of projects and progress toward professional registration.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and document fire protection and wet services systems for commercial and residential projects
- Prepare detailed layouts and calculations using CAD; proficiency in Revit is advantageous
- Lead and manage projects with support from a registered Professional Engineer
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely project delivery
- Coordinate with regulatory bodies for compliance and approvals
- Perform site inspections and resolve technical issues during implementation
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in building services, specifically in fire and/or wet services engineering
- Actively working toward Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA (must be at a registration-ready stage)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Revit is a plus
- Ability to manage and drive projects independently while reporting to a senior engineer
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
