About the Role

Fidelity Services Group is seeking dedicated and physically fit individuals to join our team as Junior Fire Fighters. This is an entry-level position based in Midrand, Gauteng, offering a unique opportunity to build a career in emergency response and fire protection services. The successful candidates will be responsible for responding to and managing fire-related incidents to protect the lives and property of our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly and effectively to fires, rescue operations, and other emergency incidents.
  • Perform firefighting and emergency rescue services under the guidance and supervision of senior officers.
  • Provide basic medical care and resuscitation to injured persons during emergencies.
  • Operate and maintain a range of firefighting equipment and apparatus, including mobile and fixed breathing apparatus.
  • Respond to incidents involving hazardous substances and undertake fire protection duties in high-risk situations.
  • Participate in regular training drills, simulation exercises, and physical fitness programs.
  • Conduct fire prevention training for relevant employees and advise on preventative and corrective actions.
  • Perform health and safety inspections to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Complete computerized occurrence logs to maintain accurate records of daily incidents.
  • Ensure operational readiness by checking, cleaning, testing, and maintaining vehicles and equipment.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 certificate as a minimum educational requirement.
  • IFSAC Accredited and NFPA 1001 Firefighter 2 certification.
  • Firefighter II Certification is essential.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related firefighting experience.
  • Valid, unendorsed vehicle driver’s license; advanced driving experience is advantageous.
  • Medically and physically fit to perform demanding emergency duties.
  • Hazmat experience and knowledge are highly desirable.
  • EMT certification and First Aid levels 1 to 3.
  • Basic Ambulance Attendant qualification.
  • Clear criminal record.

Core Competencies

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sound understanding of Hazmat guidelines and fire prevention procedures.
  • Knowledge of firefighting systems, including the classes and chemistry of fire.
  • Ability to react efficiently and calmly in emergency situations.
  • Strong administrative, interpersonal, and customer liaison skills.
  • Understanding of the Security Industry and adherence to its code of conduct.
