Junior Fire-Fighter

Job Description

We are seeking a Junior Fire-Fighter to join our team in East London. The role includes responding to fire incidents, providing emergency rescue and basic medical care, supporting fire prevention and training activities, and maintaining firefighting equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to fire, rescue, and hazardous substance incidents under supervision.
• Assist in extricating patients and performing emergency operations.
• Operate firefighting equipment and maintain readiness.
• Provide basic medical care, including CPR and first aid.
• Support fire prevention, training, and safety inspections.
• Maintain accurate incident logs and records.
• Participate in health and safety meetings and drills.
• Operate specialized vehicles and machinery.
• Ensure compliance with OHS Act and company policies.
• Carry out routine equipment maintenance and report repairs.
• Assist with fire safety education and training drills.
• Perform supervisory duties as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum Grade 12 qualification.
• IFSAC Accredited.
• NFPA 1001 Firefighter II certification.
• 2–3 years of firefighting training and experience.
• Valid code C1 driver’s licence with PrDP (advanced driving experience advantageous).
• Medically and physically fit.
• Good understanding of fire prevention procedures.
• Knowledge of fire-fighting systems and fire classes.
• Clear criminal record.
• Hazmat experience and knowledge essential.
• EMT certification.
• First Aid levels 1 to 3.

Core Competencies

• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Knowledge of Hazmat guidelines.
• Understanding of security industry conduct.
• Knowledge of firefighter instructor principles.
