About the Opportunity
The Office of the FAIS Ombud is offering an exceptional opportunity for graduates to join its prestigious Graduate Recruitment Programme. This is a structured 12-month training programme designed to develop a pipeline of highly competent professionals for the labour market. Successful candidates will be integrated into the core operations of the Office, specifically within the Case Management and Adjudication Department, and will receive comprehensive training under the guidance of a dedicated mentor.

Key Performance Areas
As a Graduate Trainee, your responsibilities will include:
- Dispute Resolution: Facilitating fair negotiations and working towards equitable settlements between consumers and financial service providers.
- Case Evaluation: Conducting thorough and objective analysis of evidence, legal arguments, and financial documentation presented in complaints.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Interacting professionally and respectfully with all parties involved in the dispute resolution process.
- Timeliness & Efficiency: Managing a personal caseload effectively to ensure prompt adjudication and resolution of matters.
- Confidentiality: Maintaining the highest level of security and confidentiality for all case-related information.
- Fairness & Impartiality: Ensuring all decisions are unbiased, ethical, and free from any conflict of interest.
- Communication: Articulating rulings and explaining complex legal and financial concepts clearly and effectively to all stakeholders.
Requirements
To be considered for this programme, you must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a South African citizen with a valid South African ID document.
- Have completed an LLB degree.
- Practical Legal Training (PLT) will be a distinct advantage.
- Possess a passion for public service and a genuine interest in the financial sector.
- Have a strong academic record.
- Be resilient, able to work effectively in a stressful environment, and willing to learn and work extra hours when required.
- Be energetic, self-driven, and committed to meeting deadlines.
- Must be computer literate.
