About the Role
Dis‑Chem Pharmacies is looking for a Merchandiser to join our store team in Randfontein. The role is crucial in ensuring that our stores meet high merchandising standards and provide an outstanding experience for customers. You should be ready to work retail hours and handle physical stock efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Restock merchandise on shelves as needed to maximise sales.
- Store new deliveries or stock pulled from the storeroom in the correct areas and on time.
- Ensure all products on shelves have a safe, valid sell‑by date.
- Keep the full product range available at all times.
- Manage stock rotation using FIFO (first‑in, first‑out) procedures.
- Report low stock levels, out‑of‑stock items, damaged or expired stock to management.
- Assist with stock taking and counting of stock files.
- Follow Dis‑Chem’s operating standards, store layout, and planograms.
- Flatten and store unpacked boxes and place them in the correct area.
- Present front‑shop shelves neatly with correct labels and pricing.
- Notify management of any price discrepancies.
- Stay updated on new products and promotions.
- Build, face, and maintain merchandising displays.
- Maintain daily physical upkeep of the store and merchandise displays.
- Assist with loading and unloading stock.
- Mark items without barcodes clearly.
- Help with back‑shopping and coordinate with other staff.
- Train new staff members when required.
- Offer friendly, helpful assistance and advice to customers.
- Check the “out of stock” list for customer queries and follow up.
- Resolve customer stock queries promptly.
- Wear the correct uniform and badge at all times.
- Handle merchandise carefully to minimise losses.
- Adhere to all Dis‑Chem policies, SOPs, and health and safety rules.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
- Up to 6 months of retail experience.
- Computer literate – basic MS Office.
- Willing and able to work retail hours.
Desirable (Advantageous)
- At least 1 year of retail experience.
- Bilingual language skills.
- Knowledge of FMCG industry and merchandising standards.
- Product and category knowledge.
- Ability to analyse Z‑MORE reports for ordering and stock taking.

- Strong command of English.
- Presentable appearance.
- Good engagement with customers, management, and staff.
- Trustworthy and honest.
- Effective time‑management.

- Physically fit to lift and move heavy boxes, following health and safety standards.
