About the Role

The Local Choice Pharmacy is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Frontshop Assistant to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring excellent merchandising practices are followed according to The Local Choice Corporate Stores’ policies and procedures. Your primary goal will be to maintain high standards of product presentation, stock management, and customer service to maximize sales and ensure a positive shopping experience.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
  • 0 – 6 months of retail work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year of retail work experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Restock merchandise promptly to ensure maximum sales potential.
  • Ensure delivered stock or items pulled from the storeroom are stored and shelved correctly and immediately.
  • Maintain shelf stock, checking for expired items and applying the FIFO (First In, First Out) principle.
  • Ensure full product ranges are available on shelves at all times.
  • Facilitate regular stock rotation and adhere to all stock control procedures.
  • Keep the storeroom organized, neat, and tidy.
  • Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged goods, and expired products to management.
  • Assist with cycle counts and general stocktaking activities.
  • Flatten boxes after unpacking and take them to the designated area for checking by security.
  • Identify and report damaged or expired stock to management immediately.
  • Uphold and maintain The Local Choice Corporate Stores’ merchandising standards, including store layout and planograms.
  • Ensure front shop shelves and products are neatly presented and clearly visible.
  • Verify that all labels and pricing are correct and report any discrepancies.
  • Stay informed about new products and maintain up-to-date product knowledge.
  • Build, face up, stock, and maintain merchandising displays according to company procedures.
  • Maintain the daily physical upkeep of the store and your designated areas.
  • Assist with loading and off-loading stock as needed.
  • Clearly mark any items without barcodes.
  • Be available to assist with back shopping when required.
  • Handle all merchandise carefully to prevent losses.
  • Provide friendly, helpful, and courteous assistance and advice to all customers.
  • Follow up on all customer out-of-stock queries promptly.
  • Wear the correct uniform and name badge at all times.
  • Assist with the training of new and current team members.
  • Report any suspicious behavior from staff or customers to management.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards, ensuring your workstation is always clean and tidy.
  • Adhere to all company Policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and Health and Safety regulations.

Special Conditions of Employment

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and/or reliable transport.
  • Must be a South African citizen or possess a valid work permit.
  • Must have a clear credit and criminal record.
