About the Job
Dis‑Chem Pharmacies is looking for a friendly and dedicated Cosmetics Front Shop Assistant to support customer service and maintain high merchandising standards in our Gandhi Square store. The role involves managing product displays, handling cash, and providing excellent service to customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Display full ranges of cosmetic products neatly on the shelves.
- Check stock for expiry dates and ensure items are not sold past their sell‑by date.
- Restock merchandise promptly to maximise sales opportunities.
- Manage accurate cash flow and handle all payments (cash, card, vouchers).
- Approve and record line voids and price changes with a supervisor’s signature.
- Exchange or return merchandise for customers when authorized.
- Store delivered stock or items pulled from the storeroom correctly in the storeroom.
- Provide helpful and courteous assistance to all customers.
- Follow up on out‑of‑stock queries using the customer service out‑of‑stock list.
- Place cash in the drop safe and verify all payments according to Dis‑Chem procedures.
- Adhere to Dis‑Chem security policies and use your personal code/password securely.
- Scan and pay for all outgoing stock and items.
- Follow health and safety rules and regulations at all times.
Essential Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent.
- 0–6 months retail experience.
- Minimum 1 year experience in cosmetics retail.
- Certification in retail or a related field.
- Basic computer skills – MS Office.
- Strong customer‑service orientation and attention to detail.
- Good spoken, written, and reading English.
- Knowledge of merchandising standards and FMCG industry.
- Ability to work with planograms and category knowledge (promotions, personal selling, sales targets).
- Basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- High emotional intelligence, accountability, problem solving, trustworthiness, and good time management.
Desirable Skills
- Fluency in a third language.
Working Conditions
- Ability and willingness to work retail hours.
- Reliable transport and/or residence near the store.
- South African citizenship.
- Clear credit and criminal records.
