Requirements

To be considered for this internship, you must have:

  • A National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies, Knowledge Management, Information Systems, or an equivalent qualification.
  • The qualification must be at NQF level 6/7 and recognized by SAQA.
  • Applicants should not have previously served as an intern or been a contract worker in the Public Service (including Local Government) or Private Sector. Failure to disclose this information will lead to disqualification or dismissal.

  • Stipend: A monthly stipend of R7,860.39 will be provided.
  • Centre: The internship will be based in Pretoria.
  • Duration: The internship is scheduled for the period 2026 to 2028.

Please note the following important application instructions:

Selection Process

All shortlisted candidates can expect the following steps in the selection process:

  1. A technical exercise (or exercises/follow-up engagements/second round interviews) designed to test relevant technical elements of the job.
  2. A generic managerial competency assessment, using the mandated DPSA SMS competency assessment tools, which will test core and process competencies.

Core competencies include: Strategic capacity and leadership, People management and empowerment, Advanced programme and project management, Change management, and Financial management.

Process competencies include: Knowledge management, Service Delivery Innovation, Advanced problem-solving and analysis, Client orientation and customer focus, and Advanced communication skills (written and verbal).

Additional Important Information

  • The successful candidate will be appointed subject to positive results from a pre-employment screening process, which includes criminal, credit, and citizenship checks, as well as verification of educational qualifications.
  • The appointment will include a probation period of 12 months, and the candidate will be required to sign a performance agreement.
