Role Overview

The Pump Attendant works on-site in Mokopane, monitoring dewatering pumps and ensuring their safe, continuous operation. This is a fixed‑term, on‑site role that reports directly to the Engineering Foreman.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor dewatering pumps to maintain continuous operation.
• Inspect pipes, hoses, and valves for wear, leaks, or damage.
• Perform basic mechanical checks and report faults to maintenance staff.
• Record and report any stoppages, leaks, or safety risks immediately.
• Clear blockages and debris as part of routine maintenance.
• Monitor lubricant levels and refill or replace as needed.
• Assist with pump installations.
• Maintain good housekeeping around pump areas to prevent hazards.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in pump operation or related field.
• Knowledge of pump operation, installation, and basic maintenance.
• Ability to inspect equipment for malfunctions and perform minor repairs.
• Good understanding of piping and fitting work.
• Strong reporting skills – clearly communicate defects or problems to supervisors.
