About the Role
The Fixed Term Construction Worker will provide essential support to our construction teams on site. Your role is vital to maintaining a safe, efficient, and productive construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support construction activities and ensure high safety standards in the work area.
- Operate and maintain mechanical equipment required for the construction assistant role.
- Inspect and ensure mechanical equipment is in good working order.
- Prepare construction sites for safe entry and exit, including bar face installation and temporary support.
- Execute construction tasks as instructed and maintain the integrity of the work area.
- Set up and clean winch and scraper equipment.
- Install equipment and prepare materials for upcoming operations.
- Report any abnormal activities or safety concerns to the Construction Operator.
- Assist during breakdowns, emergencies, and logistics support.
- Work closely with team members to ensure task completion and quality of work.
- Support clean-up activities that enable construction operators to perform their tasks.
- Coordinate logistics for safe and effective material delivery and support.
- Communicate effectively with all team members.
- Assist in measuring construction activities and recording data.
- Identify material requirements and support the Construction Operator accordingly.
- Participate in safety meetings and construction meetings as instructed.
- Accurately complete administrative tasks related to your role.
- Suggest improvements to operations and construction initiatives.
- Contribute to improvement projects aimed at enhancing construction processes.
- Identify and mitigate safety risks and construction threats proactively.
- Offer help to logistics and panel teams when required.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 qualification.
- Completed a Construction Assistant specific training module.
- Experience working in an underground mining environment.
- Proficiency with hand tools and the ability to operate and control machinery and heavy equipment.
- Strong basic math and literacy skills for measuring and following instructions.
- Attention to detail and manual dexterity for fine motor tasks.
- Understanding of safety regulations and site-specific safety protocols.
