This position is based at our 24-hour Pharmacy located in Bassonia, Johannesburg. This role is crucial in ensuring our customers receive their essential healthcare products in a timely and confidential manner.
Job Description
The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the safe, timely, and confidential delivery of prescription medications and other healthcare products to our customers, clinics, and healthcare facilities. As a Driver, you will be a vital link between the pharmacy and its clients, maintaining the trust and reliability that our company is known for.
Key Job Objectives
- Safely deliver prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications to residential addresses, clinics, retirement homes, and hospitals.
- Prioritize and expedite urgent deliveries to meet critical deadlines.
- Handle temperature-sensitive and scheduled medications with the utmost care and security.
- Ensure refrigerated medications and products are properly packed with ice packs to maintain their efficacy.
- Load the delivery vehicle carefully to prevent damage to parcels during transit.
- Obtain necessary signatures and maintain accurate proof-of-delivery documentation for every transaction.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality at all times, in line with company policy and legal requirements.
- Communicate professionally and courteously with patients and healthcare staff.
- Relay any customer concerns, feedback, or queries back to the Dispensary Manager promptly.
- Return any undelivered or rejected items to the dispensary with the appropriate documentation.
- Ensure the delivery vehicle is kept clean and well-maintained at all times.
- Accurately complete delivery check sheets before and after each trip.
- Confirm the accurate number of parcels for each delivery run.
- Ensure all allocated duties are carried out efficiently and completed in full.
Minimum Requirements
- National Senior Certificate (Matric) is essential.
- A minimum of 2 years of previous experience in a delivery or courier role.
- Basic knowledge of pharmacy procedures is a strong advantage.
- A valid Code 08 (B) or Code 10 (C1) driver’s license, approved by the South African Road Traffic Act.
- A valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP) is required.
- A clean driving record with no traffic violations.
- Must be flexible and prepared to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays, to meet the operational requirements of the department.
