About the Role
As a General Assistant you will provide excellent customer service, manage store merchandising, pricing and maintain a tidy and safe environment. Your work will support daily operations and help create a welcoming experience for all customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers, advise on product selection and resolve queries.
- Perform accurate calculations and provide correct pricing information.
- Ensure the assigned area is fully merchandised according to the store layout and planograms.
- Update shelf price labels and keep them clearly displayed.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety – remove obstacles, stock quickly after receiving, and keep aisles hazard‑free.
- Complete required safety and housekeeping checklists on duty.
- Report damaged or missing stock to the Store Manager.
- Fulfil shift, weekend and public holiday requirements and work efficiently under pressure.
- Follow all OHSA safety procedures and use the necessary protective gear.

- Customer Service: Assist customers, resolve complaints and create a friendly environment.
- Merchandising Standards: Keep bulk stock areas organised and adhere to the store layout.
- Housekeeping and Safety: Keep aisles clean, label shelves correctly and support safety compliance.
- Stock Management: Identify and report stock damage or loss.

Requirements
- Minimum Grade 10 (NQF 3) with one year related work experience, or Grade 12 without work experience.
- Ability to communicate in English and the dominant local language.
- Valid South African ID or work permit.

- Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
- Capability to work under pressure.
