About the Programme
The Cadets learnership is a comprehensive aviation training programme that takes you from a fully qualified pilot to a first officer at FlySafair. You will receive training in ground school, simulator sessions, and flight instruction, covering all aspects of our operating procedures and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate fully in ground school, simulator and flight training.
- Show proficiency in aviation theory, aircraft systems and operational procedures.
- Develop strong situational awareness, decision‑making and problem‑solving skills under a variety of conditions.
- Adhere to the highest safety standards and comply with all aviation regulations, company policies and SOPs.
- Maintain accurate training records and take part in all performance assessments.
- Engage in continuous learning and self‑study to meet or exceed training requirements.
- Attend all briefings, debriefings and feedback sessions with trainers, mentors and supervisors.
- Progress from cadet level to qualified First Officer in line with the airline’s training requirements.
Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent (essential).
- Valid Commercial Pilot Licence (essential).
- Valid Multi‑Engine Instrument Rating (essential).
- Valid Class I Medical Certificate (essential).
- Minimum flying hours:
- 800–1000 total, 300 Multi‑Engine Piston (PIC) hours – or
- 800 total, 200 Twin Turbine (P1/2) <10,000 kg – or
- 1000 total, 300 PIC & 100 PIC SE Turbine & Twin Piston – or
- 700 total, Boeing/Airbus type‑rated (including Level D simulator time).
- No existing medical conditions.
- Willing to sign a training bond (7‑year bond required).
- No criminal record.
- Willing to undergo a drug and alcohol test.
- Own transport and valid RSA Driver’s Licence.
- RSA Citizen with proof of identity and valid passport.
- Strong understanding of the aviation industry, SACAA regulations and high‑speed aerodynamics.
- Good knowledge of ATN radiotelephone procedures.
