Cadet – South Deep Cadet Programme

About the role
The South Deep Cadet Programme is a 12‑month apprenticeship designed for young, unemployed South Africans who have never had formal work experience. The programme offers practical training, safety awareness, and on‑the‑job skills development in a world‑class mining environment. By its conclusion, participants will be better prepared and more marketable for careers in the mining industry or beyond.

Who we are looking for

• Historically Disadvantaged South Africans (HDSA) aged 18–34
• Applicants from the following host communities:
  Bekkersdal, Zuurberkom, Thusanang, Hillshaven, Westonaria, Poortjie, Simunye, Kalbasfontein, Jachtfontein and Westonaria Borwa
• Eligibility criteria for host community applicants:

• Must reside in, or attend Grade 12 in, one of the above communities
• Fluent in English (spoken and written)
• Currently unemployed with no prior formal work experience
• Willing to work underground and/or surface risk areas, including rotational shifts and extended hours as required
• Capable of completing pre‑employment checks, including assessments, security clearance, qualification verification, and a fitness certificate from the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre
