Job Purpose
Prepare and deliver outstanding beverage services in banqueting or restaurant settings while continuously meeting internal SOP standards.
Key Performance Areas
- Prepared Work Area
- Set up mise‑en‑place and check bar display, equipment and systems.
- Stock the bar for service.
- Maintain cleanliness of own station.
- Service Execution
- Stay up to date with food products, trends and drink methodologies.
- Follow all F&B SOPs.
- Take guest orders accurately and promptly; input them in the system.
- Explain menu items and make recommendations.
- Mix drinks and present them according to outlet standards.
- Attend to guest requests and clear glasses once drinks are finished.
- Provide accurate billing and conduct cash‑ups at end of service.
- Complete beverage stock sheets each shift.
- Upsell promotional items where appropriate.
- Bar Standards
- Follow all F&B SOPs and safety regulations.
- Use and store equipment correctly.
- Participate in stock takes and daily bar counts.
- Report anomalies, breakages or other issues.
- Customer Engagement
- Welcome guests with a friendly smile and a warm welcome.
- Deliver professional service and propose relevant solutions.
- Identify guest preferences and recommend suitable beverages.
- Educate guests about our facilities, rewards and promotions.
- Handle complaints or requests, escalating when necessary.
Requirements
Education
- Grade 12 preferred.
- Grade 10 with relevant experience also acceptable.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years as a bartender.
Skills & Knowledge
- Ability to move operating equipment.
- Flexibility to perform similar roles in alternative outlets.
- Strong knowledge of beverages and cocktails.
- Bar skills and equipment care.
- Excellent beverage service and upselling skills.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Cashiering skills.
