About the Role

The Apprenticeship will involve working under the Service Manager’s guidance to repair and maintain commercial trucks and buses. Your primary focus will be to deliver high‑quality work that meets dealer and distributor standards, while also supporting the overall efficiency of the service department.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults quickly and accurately to facilitate efficient service.
• Operate diagnostic equipment and follow DCSA procedures.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to customers and service advisors clearly.
• Follow safety protocols and keep the work area clean and tidy.
• Respond to breakdown calls when required.
• Ensure returned vehicles are clean, fully operational, and documented correctly.
• Track parts usage – sign out required parts and return unused ones.
• Provide accurate service time estimates and cost‑effective solutions.
• Complete all service forms, reports, and service cards as per company procedures.
• Participate in training courses offered by Daimler and Cargo Motors.
• Support other duties as needed to keep the team running smoothly.

Technical & Diagnostic Skills

• Use modern diagnostic tools to identify and resolve vehicle faults.
• Explain technical details to customers during service discussions.
• Handle electrical system diagnostics when necessary.

Skills & Personal Attributes

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Comfortable working under pressure and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail.

Qualifications & Experience

• Grade 12 – Maths and Physical Science.
• Grades N2 – Engineering Science, Technical Drawing, Maths, Motor Trade Theory.
• Driver’s licence is an advantage.
• Any technical skill or prior experience in vehicle repair is a plus.
