About the Role
AECI Limited is seeking two dedicated and hardworking individuals to join our team as Operations Assistants. This is an excellent opportunity to play a vital support role in our dynamic mining operations. The successful candidates will be responsible for assisting with a variety of housekeeping activities and the critical process of charging blasts, ensuring all operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist the Mobile Manufacturing Unit (MMU) Controller in managing and operating all aspects of a Blend Truck (MMU) to consistently meet customer requirements and adhere to AECI’s strict standards and procedures (OTIF – On Time In Full).
- Support the MMU Controller in performing regular inspections on both fixed plant equipment and MMUs, in line with SABS and World Class standards. This involves identifying any non-conformances and helping to implement preventative measures for continuous improvement.
- Provide assistance in all blasting-related functions as required. This includes practical tasks such as measuring blast holes, closing or stemming charged holes, providing guarding services, and general cleaning duties on the bench.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards at the work site to ensure a safe, clean, and organized environment for all personnel.
- Ensure the cleanliness of the wash bay area and the truck park.
- Keep all company trucks clean and presentable, both internally and externally.
- Assist with the manual loading and unloading of various products onto and off of trucks.
- Support the charging team with their duties on the bench during blast preparation.
- Participate in the closing or stemming process of charged blast holes.
- Handle the loading and unloading of packaged explosives and related accessories with extreme care and in accordance with all safety protocols.
- Strictly observe and comply with all legal requirements and company policies while working at the depot and on site.
- Ensure that all Mobile Manufacturing Units (MMUs) are meticulously maintained and cleaned according to our World Class Standards.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
- Perform any other blasting or operations-related functions as required by supervisors to support the team’s objectives.
