Position Overview
The Administrative Officer will provide essential support to the Student Communities, Leadership and Residence Life department. Responsibilities include coordinating institutional projects, managing student leadership programmes, preparing data reports, and assisting with student governance activities.

- Remuneration: In line with NWU policy guidelines (annual package commensurate with level of appointment)
Responsibilities
- Provide day‑to‑day administrative support to the Senior Manager and the department.
- Maintain and consolidate student leadership databases and co‑curricular programme data.
- Coordinate travel, accommodation and venue arrangements for projects and programmes.
- Support the Student Leadership Academy, including data consolidation and report preparation.
- Assist with financial administration: data collection, budgeting, and payment processing.
- Help organise student electoral processes and liaise with student structures such as SRC and SCC.
- Handle day‑to‑day office tasks—meeting preparation, correspondence, and general office administration.
- Perform ad‑hoc administrative tasks as required.
Minimum Requirements
- Advanced certificate or diploma (Level 6) in Business/Strategic Management or Law.
- At least 1 year of experience coordinating student life programmes in a multi‑campus university.
- At least 1 year of experience managing student electoral processes at a South African university.
- At least 1 year of experience developing student leaders through training and programme coordination.
Desired Advantages
- Bachelor’s degree (Level 7) in Business/Strategic Management or Law.
- Experience writing project reports and maintaining student life data.
- Previous membership in student leadership structures (e.g., SRC, SCC).
Competencies
- Strong knowledge of South African university student leadership and governance.
- Computer literacy – Microsoft 365, Adobe tools, virtual meeting platforms.
- Project coordination and stakeholder engagement.
- Fluency in multiple languages (NWU is a multilingual environment).
- Excellent written communication – spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
- Effective communication with students, staff, and external partners.

Remuneration
The total annual package will be in accordance with NWU policy guidelines and the level of appointment.
