Data Capturer – Eastern Cape Department of Health

Salary: R176,418 – R208,827 per year (Level 05)

Contract Type: Fixed‑term, 5 months

Purpose of the Position

We need dedicated Data Capturers to help manage health information at district and sub‑district levels. You will collect, verify, and report data for HIV/AIDS, STI, and TB programs. Your work supports better health services across the province.

Minimum Requirements

• National Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
• 0–2 years of experience in data capture, health information systems, or administration
• Strong computer skills – MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access
• Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Knowledge of DHIS, Tier.net and EDR Web is an advantage
• Valid driver’s licence is a plus

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Capture, verify and validate health data from facilities and sub‑districts daily and monthly
• Maintain accurate electronic and manual filing systems
• Compile and submit routine statistical and performance reports
• Identify and resolve data inconsistencies, missing information and errors
• Assist facilities with data management support, audits and verification
• Strengthen data quality assurance processes – completeness, timeliness, accuracy
• Support the implementation of SOPs for data management
• Participate in monitoring and evaluation activities
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data security practices
