Requirements
- Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience.
- NQF Level 3 / Grade 10 certificate.
- Knowledge of:
- Establishment of pastures.
- Crop planting and cultivation.
- Calculations for herbicide/pesticide mixing and application.
- Calibration of planters and crop sprayers.
- Farm equipment operation, maintenance and repair.
- Skills in:
- Operating tractors and implements (ploughs, rippers, planters, sprayers, etc.).
- Operating specialised machinery (TLB, bulldozer, etc.).
- Planting and harvesting.
- Road maintenance.
- Valid Driver’s Licence (Code C1).
Duties
- Operate tractors with various implements for land cultivation, tillage, planting, spraying, harvesting, transportation of goods, firefighting, fencing, mowing and general farm work.
- Perform road and firebreak maintenance using appropriate machinery.
- Operate specialised farm machinery such as harvesters, drilling equipment, excavators and sewer jetting machines.
- Ensure safe storage, cleaning and routine maintenance of vehicles and implements.
- Maintain a monthly vehicle logbook and report kilometre usage.
- Report defects promptly to prevent further equipment damage.
- Assist with dispensing and receiving fuels and oils.
