Position Summary

The University of KwaZulu‑Natal is looking for energetic and experienced Cleaners to keep our facilities clean, safe and welcoming. As a Cleaner, you will perform a variety of cleaning tasks inside and outside buildings, including offices, kitchens, labs, corridors, venues, and outdoor areas. Your responsibilities will also include refuse removal, operating minor equipment, moving furniture, window cleaning, and deep floor cleaning.

Key Responsibilities

  • General cleaning of offices, kitchens, ablutions, laboratories, passages, corridors, and venues.
  • Refuse removal and proper disposal of waste.
  • Operate basic cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor scrubbers, and window cleaners.
  • Move and arrange furniture as required.
  • Perform deep floor cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure all areas are hygienic and hazard‑free.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 8 education.
  • At least one (1) year of relevant experience in the cleaning industry.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Familiarity with the operation of basic cleaning equipment.

Additional Information
