About the Role
The City of Tshwane is inviting applications for two Assistant Operator positions within the Department of Regional Operations and Coordination, Division: Regional Operations – Region 3, Section: Roads and Transport Services. The successful candidates will join a team responsible for road‑building, repairs and maintenance to ensure safe and functional transport infrastructure in Region 3.

Salary Information
- Base Salary: R166,800 – R200,832 per annum
- Estimated Total Package: R245,272 – R288,588 per annum
Job Purpose
Provide physical support services as part of a maintenance team performing road‑building and repair work across Region 3.
Minimum Requirements
- Basic literacy
- Ability to perform physical duties
- Relevant work experience in roads and stormwater maintenance (advantageous)
- Physically fit and in good health
- Must undergo a criminal record check (fingerprints taken by TMPD at own cost)
- Willingness to work shifts, overtime and standby duties when required
Key Responsibilities
- Place road safety signs and control traffic on site
- Prepare sites for asphalt placement
- Excavate and lay road‑building materials
- Fetch water and mix construction materials
- Spray or paint emulsion and spread asphalt
- Clean work sites after completion
- Operate small equipment safely and as trained
